08:13 pm: Smelling the roses

Today I went shopping in Rittou (the nearest store where I can buy pinto beans). I have to say, it's a beautiful ride. The residential area houses that line the road have gorgeous tiled roofs, decorative gates, sculpted trees, and are often overflowing with flowers. The one drawback is that there isn't a sidewalk along the road, so there isn't really anywhere to stop to take good pictures.

One thing that amazes me is how tropical the plants here seem. It almost feels like being back in Hawaii on occasion, with all the flowers blooming everywhere, and even what appear to be a few palm trees here and there. Perhaps all the pictures I'm taking will help to remind me of this when it's January and my apartment turns into a refrigerator.

Lovely house. Very nifty.

Also? Your make-my-face-with-the-animated-thingie? Looks spookily like you.

Me, too!

I love reading your journal entries, too. The pictures almost help me think I'm there, well, not quite. But they help. Bob and Rob read them, too.

Love, Mom

I've just about exhausted the range of places I can get to on my bike, so I'm looking forward to getting a paycheck and being able to travel farther.
