Today was the administration of the general entrance exam. Apparently the one they had a few weeks back was a special version (possibly--though I never asked for details--for high achieving students with recommendations from their middle school faculty) that consisted mainly of interviews.
In today's version, the students had to take exams in five areas: English, Japanese, math, science, and social studies. Tomorrow, the teachers in each of the five departments will get together to grade their subject area's tests. I even get to grade two questions (composition) on the English exam. This will punctuate my days of occupying myself at my desk. (On the other hand, two of my scheduled classes for next week were cancelled. So between now and next Friday, I only have three classes.)
(Please note: I don't MIND sitting at my desk for hours with no obligations. It's like getting paid to read all day. I just wish I had a better chair...)
I decided to bake a batch of peanut butter cookies to take in as a snack for the grading session. Of course, there just happened to be a couple extra cookies' worth of batter in the bottom of the bowl, which I didn't want to waste another whole microwave-baking session on, so I baked them in the toaster oven. And of course, they got a little extra brown on top. So, shucks, I just had to eat them myself for supper. It's like a peanut butter sandwich, right?
