08:04 pm: And how is that spelt?
It has mostly been lots of game playing and bread baking around here for the past couple weeks.

I've been experimenting with using alternative grains for bread, such as Kamut and spelt. (They are both delicious.) I've also been making a lot of multigrain combinations, including ingredients such as oat flour and rice flour. It's hard to go wrong with freshly baked bread. And with three people here to eat it, we end up finishing off a loaf every day or two.

Last weekend, I planted my spring potatoes. I also managed to get all of my rose bushes, fruit trees, and grape vines pruned. My peas have not been producing as early as I remember from last year, but I am blaming that on the birds that keep trying to perch in my pea vines and end up breaking the stems off.

This weekend, my parents and I went to the neighbors' Superbowl party. Although the game itself was being held near here, and has been in the news constantly, none of the people at the party particularly cared about either of the teams, so the gathering was mainly just an excuse for a potluck.

Tonight I went out to eat with my parents at a local fondue restaurant. I had been curious about the place for a long time, and I happened to acquire a generous coupon, so we splurged a bit. It was quite good, and they even had a vegetarian special. I'm glad we had the opportunity to try it.

Do they have a menu online I can drool over?

Melting Pot (click the "Choose a Menu" pulldown on the right side of the page). We did the Good Earth Vegetarian special with the Classic Alpine fondue. (We wimped out on getting the chocolate fondue, but if we go back, we might try that.)

That looks really yummy! You definitely need to go back and also try the chocolate fondue.
