Game I Backed:
Shipwrights of the North Sea
Status: Funded

In this resource-management game, players are Vikings who are racing to build ships, using a card draft to acquire tools and villagers and other things to assist in the construction. I think the art is quirky and attention-grabbing, and I like the resource management aspect. The one "flaw" is that there are some pretty mean attack cards to sabotage opponents' shipbuilding efforts, but those can be taken out before playing. I debated adding on the game Tanzania, but I'm trying to show restraint...

Games I Viewed:
Province
Status: Funded

This is a worker placement microgame for two players. Its main advantage is that the cost is only $5. It's very small and portable, and it plays quickly. My biggest reservation is that I rarely have opportunities for two-player-only games.

The Piratical Collection of Leather Pouch Games
Status: Funded

This is more of a storefront than a true funding project, if that bothers anyone. It is offering a number of pirate-themed games where the pieces are contained in sea-blue leather pouches that double as the game board. It's certainly quite clever and visually striking. There are also some gorgeous treasure chests.

Dungeon Scroll
Status: Funded

This card game is essentially Scrabble with an atmospheric dungeon crawl theme. Players spell out words using letter cards to get through dungeon challenges and earn gold. It does look interesting, I'm just not much of a Scrabble person.

Honorable Mention:
The Adults of Carcassonne
Status: 79% funded

This campaign offers coaster-sized Carcassonne tiles with meeple shot glasses to turn the classic game into a drinking game.

I am not allowed to buy meeple shot glasses. I am not allowed to buy meeple shot glasses.

I'm afraid to even LOOK at the pirate-themed sea-blue leather pouches, oh god.

Nothing to see here. Move along. (Definitely don't stop to look at the pirate chests.)

Perhaps fortunately, there hasn't been too much of interest so far this week. Then again, I'm expecting the Tokaido project to launch any time now...
