06:36 pm: Rainy days and Mondays...
Just when I was relieved to have gotten over my cold so quickly, I woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat. I suspect this is a completely different bug, because the symptoms have changed from general body aches and sniffles to a sore throat and throbbing headache.

Going to work on Saturday was bad enough, but by Sunday morning (my one day off this weekend) my throat hurt so much that even breathing was painful. I immediately started all the remedies I could think of, including gargling salt water, eating oranges, and guzzling honeyed tea. With all that going on, I didn't get much done other than clearing off my dining room table. I probably wouldn't even have gotten around to that, except I had agreed to tutor my neighbor before her algebra test on Monday, and I needed a flat space for her to work.

I didn't sleep well at all Sunday night...of course, it didn't help that I'm switching from the late evening shift (Saturday) to the early morning shift (Monday), which throws my sleep schedule off anyway. My painkillers wore off in the middle of the night, and I woke up at about 2:30am, too uncomfortable to get back to sleep. I spent a couple hours drinking more tea before I had to leave for work.

I'm not in any shape to attend a game meetup this week, not to mention that I still need to make final preparations for my trip in a few days. I also hope to straighten up the house a bit more. With luck, I'll be over this latest nastiness in another day or two.

Be careful. Everyone here who's had something along these lines, including me, has had it settle into some kind of secondary infection (sinus, pneumonia, etc.) and has needed hard-core antibiotics to heal. Everybody-- from young and healthy to old and not-so-healthy.

In other words, don't be afraid to go to the doctor. :)

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if it doesn't clear up soon.

Oh, no, being that sick is dreadful!

I think you should consider going to the doctor regardless. If there's even a chance of it turning into something worse, it might be smart for you to take antibiotics with you rather than ending up needing them while traveling abroad. (I don't know if the doctor would prescribe them on that basis, but it can't hurt to try?)

Crossing fingers for you to feel better quickly!

Do you not take sick days? What a work ethic! I hope you feel better soon.

Do you not take sick days?

I haven't yet. I consider that a last resort for when I can't drag myself out of bed. If I were feverish and dizzy, I would definitely stay home.

Agree with Sara--with our trip coming up, you might want to consider going to the doctor sooner rather than later. If nothing else, it's good to rule out serious things like strep throat.

Hope you feel better soon!
