04:24 am: Kickstarter Game Update: Week 6
Looking back: Week 5Game I Viewed:404: Law Not FoundStatus: 83% fundedIn this game, the players are robots whose Three Laws were replaced with crazy commands, and they must do their best to carry out these new directives as they travel through space on a ship constantly bombarded with deadly threats. I am such an Isaac Asimov fan, I nearly bought this on sight just because of the reference to the Three Laws. The only thing keeping me in check at the moment is my budget. I'll continue to watch the project, though.Tags: kickstarter
I didn't know you were a big Asimov fan! I am practically a groupie. Do you like his non-fiction stuff as well as his fiction? I love his fiction, but almost love his non-fiction output more.
Do you like his non-fiction stuff as well as his fiction?
Yes! I devoured it in high school. I went through the card catalogue at the library and checked out every book I could find under his name. (Once, when I was on a school trip and we were playing one of those party games, I picked Isaac Asimov as the person I'd want to be stranded on an island with...) I even wrote him fan mail (and got a response!).
Response to your letter, squee!
Card catalogue: My family pretty much did the same with Asimov - his books (fiction and non-fiction) were a big favorite to take out at the beach library.
He was the first celebrity at whose death I felt a personal sense of loss. :-(

I remember, and I think this was the very beginning of the 90s when people still measured their computer memory with kilobytes, I got a huge laugh out of a science fiction novel that postulated a tiny electronic reader that could hold <gasp> Isaac Asimov's Guide to Everything.

Thanks for inspiring me to take a second look at 404. I'm not going to back it (2+player game), but it looks like it would be fun to play.
Is anyone adding the messenger bag to their InEx bid? Or have experience with backerkit? I ask because I don't want to add the funds until I see the design, and it looks like that won't happen before the campaign ends, but it sounds as if I could make add-on adjustments via backerkit.
Or have experience with backerkit?
I haven't used that application in particular, but I have backed other projects that allow you to add extras after the campaign ends. I never had any trouble doing it. The main drawback is the funds don't contribute to any stretch goals.
I have the messenger bag included in my pledge right now, but that's because I was assuming we would see the design before the end of the campaign. I'm kind of really bummed that we haven't seen it yet and wondering if I should take that money out of my pledge. It's not like I'm swimming in money right now or something. (I wonder if there's any chance she'll post it tomorrow?)
I've backed one project that has used Backerkit (Machine of Death), and was able to add-on things after the campaign with no problem. Well, it's kind of a problem with YNAB, because I won't be charged until the game ships, so I have a random transaction that has been (and will be) hanging around in YNAB for months.
I'm holding off on the messenger bag (I figure it's just a bag, after all, and I have a lot of bags). I do want to add the metal-finish dice to my pledge, but am hesitating until the last minute.
Nosy minds want to know: which finish?
Set of four, mixed finishes (at least one of each). You know me and dice/coins. :-)
I'm so glad I'm not the only one of us attracted to random shiny things.
Speaking of which: Ninja Dice OMG! I am so in.
The good news is that it's only $25. The bad news is that there may be metal coins available as an add-on. I am ALL OVER those.
404 looks pretty fun; I love the concept. Like you, though, I have budgetary concerns, so I just added it to my reminder list. (For the record, other projects on my list are Lords and Ladies, because the art is cute and my mom is a Downton Abbey FANATIC so I might be able to get her to play with me, and Ninja Dice, because reasons.)

As an avid kickstalker, I wish I could see everyone's starred projects, so thanks for sharing. (I have Lords and Ladies starred, too. And Havoc and Hijinks.)
If I were you, I would remove the messenger bag from my InEx pledge...unless you want it to contribute to the $57.5k dice goal.
Yes, it's the dice stretch goal that's stopping me. What if we end at $57,470?? I'll see how things are going tomorrow before I make any changes.
