08:45 pm: When it rains...
Last weekend I met up with mangaroo, who drove us to Annie's to hear a talk by gardening author Pam Peirce. While we were there, mangaroo somehow managed to talk me into buying more plants, one of which was a Chilean Guava, something I had never heard of before.

I managed to squeeze the new plants in with the rest. Strong winds and cool temperatures have been taking their toll on my balcony plants, though. The tallest stem on the German Butterball snapped in half, though the other potatoes seem to be getting along with just a bit of damage on the leaf edges. Interestingly, my third runner bean plant has finally sprouted, showing that it managed to survive the winter like the other two.

Tuesday I got word that the short sale papers for the house I'm trying to buy were signed at long last. I arranged for a property inspection on Saturday. My real estate agent was annoyed that I didn't want to use the company that she recommended, but when she saw the inspector I selected get to work, she admitted that he impressed her with his experience and how thoroughly he explained things. The house is over sixty years old, so it does have some issues, but nothing that seems overwhelming.

We were sprinkled upon during the inspection and had intermittent showers the rest of the day. By the time I finished my shift at work and got on the road to take Benny back to his kennel, the sun was in exactly the right position to project a full rainbow directly in front of me. I hope that turns out to be an omen that this will all work out well.

I'm glad you used the one you trust.

In general I tend to be open to the things the agent recommends, since she does have experience, but I was firm about the inspector.
