08:17 pm: Spring cleaning
First of all, on the canine front: No news yet. Reportedly the chief has picked his top choices, and they are now awaiting approval. There won't be any announcement until the selections are approved, which is estimated to be sometime this coming week.

I've been spending a lot of my free time cleaning my apartment in anticipation of my parents coming to visit in a few days. ("Floor"...that's what people call the conveniently large storage shelf that is sturdy enough to walk on, right?) I managed to scrub down the bathroom and vacuum the living room. The kitchen is going to have to wait until the morning of their arrival, because, hey, for some strange reason these dirty dishes just keep appearing. ...I'll keep my bedroom door closed.

I'm pretty excited about all of my new plants, many of which are still crowding my windowsill because it's too cold and windy to put them outside. I'm particularly interested in the alpine strawberry seedlings that just popped up, and I'm hoping I can keep them alive through the summer. I also have a rooted stalk of lemongrass awaiting a transplant to a large pot that I'm hoping will do well. It's a shame that it's predicted to continue to be chilly through the end of the month. I feel sorry for the poor plants that are already out on the balcony, being constantly buffeted by howling winds. At least the lettuce doesn't seem to mind too much.

It seems so wrong that it would be too cold for plants there when it's like 90 here. Once you get everything housed on your balcony, I'd love pictures, though.

(Fingers crossed for puppy patrol...)

I'll try to get some nice ones before I leave for Hawaii. That way if a bunch of stuff dies while I'm gone, at least I can remember what it used to be like...
