Happy Holidays

It's so hard to remember to update when I can't use my laptop. My room used to be on the network, but something happened during the time I was gone and it apparently isn't at the moment, so no internet for me unless I use a different (not Japanese enabled) computer in the Bertram Computer Lab basement.

I had also intended to print up and send out New Year postcards to everyone...but in all the rush of suddenly returning home, I forgot to A) design them and B) bring my Japanese postcards along to be printed. ...Anyone up for Valentine's Day postcards?

Anyway, Saturday a big group of us went out caroling to a number of friends' parents' houses. We ended up at a semi-party with cheese and crackers and mulled wine, where we stayed until past midnight.

Christmas morning, almost everyone slept late. I don't know how they could stand putting off the present-opening, but that got scheduled for last. We had a delicious breakfast of waffles, chocolate atole, and homemade cherry pie, followed by liturgy and then finally presents. I got lots of wonderful things, including a stack of books that I'm going to have to work on finishing before it's time to go back.

We had a huge Christmas lunch, after which we started on the traditional Christmas puzzle while friends gathered to watch a DVD of Serenity. I spent the rest of the evening working on whittling down my book-stack. (No one writes like Terry Pratchett. The man is awesome.)

This morning we have a family picture planned, so everyone's going to have to haul themselves out of bed early to get ready. With eight people in the house and only two showers, getting ready takes a while.
