01:23 pm: Whittling away at the clutter
My major accomplishment of the week is that I am finally able to see the bottom of my sink again, for the first time since...I don't even remember. January? Perhaps the table and floor will follow soon. I can only hope.

I was planning on baking something today, when I realized to my horror that I was out of cinnamon. How did I let that happen? Possibly it's because I'm constantly distracted by things at the grocery store. I can go shopping, intending to get some simple things like bread, eggs, and milk, and I come back with canned pineapple slices and chili powder. Why do I do this?

...I imagine it's because I want to have something on hand in case of a craving. I had a craving for split pea soup the other day, and it's so sad not to have any around. Considering I only eat it 2-3 times a year, it's not surprising, but it's experiences like that that make me want to stock up on bizarre items.

Anyway, today I'm scheduled to meet a minerology professor at Shiga University to proofread his English manuscript (for a speech? paper? I'm not quite sure). When I was originally asked by an intermediary, it was proposed that the professor would meet me Monday morning at my school, which was fine by me because I only have one class to teach on Monday. But then when the professor called yesterday, he was like, "Meet me tomorrow at Ishiyama Station..." Whoa, there, you want ME to meet YOU? On my day off? When I could be washing dishes doing laundry playing Warcraft? But I had already accepted, so I thought it would be rude to decline just because there had been a communication mixup between the intermediary and the professor. We'll see how it goes.

Speaking of Warcraft, the game is currently celebrating Chinese New Year...aka the Lunar Festival. Characters can speak to various ancestral spirits to gather tokens used to purchase holiday items. Makken models the black festival pant suit that's one of the prizes offered, while Illya models the purple festival dress (though she looks HOT in the black pant suit). The clothes don't confer any advantages, they're just for appearance.

Your characters do look awesome in their festive attire.

I don't know why your shopping forays don't always end the way you plan them, but I can say that you come by that trait honestly. I do that all the time. On the other hand, I don't think that ever happens to Bob. He doesn't even look at anything that's not in his plan. Could there be a gene involved in that behavior?
