08:59 pm: Dragons + Potatoes = Love
One thing I forgot to mention about my adventure yesterday is that the ladies from the Salon who gave me a ride to the shrine to see the kyougen asked me some questions about where I've been in Japan. They asked, "Have you been to Kyoto?"

...Now, how sad would it be if I lived within half an hour of Kyoto for over a year and never went there?

I took a brief trip to Kyoto just today, as a matter of fact. My purpose was to pick up some art reference books. I wound up buying heavier things than anticipated...as usual.

I noticed on the way that there are banners hanging from the lampposts along the street in front of the station. This is not surprising, as they tend to hang banners according to the season. What did surprise me was that these banners are to celebrate the opening of Ritsumeikan High School. ...Aren't you a little premature, guys? The school doesn't actually open until April.

I stopped at the imported food store on my way back. My experiment this time is a blend of spices called Dragon Pepper. I just couldn't resist. I'll have to think of something I can try it on...I'll bet it would be good on potatoes...

Has there been any more information from them about a possible interview for staying to work with them?

Nope, no word yet.

I wish they'd hurry up about it. I know they must have a lot of other things to take care of, but moving overseas takes a lot of advance planning. I would appreciate knowing as soon as possible.

Bummer! I agree with you. They will probably say something in the next two months or so. It seems that it was near the end of the year when your current school personnel said something to you, even if it was a bit oblique. If I recall, they said to please think about what your answer would be if they offered you a chance to renew the contract for another year.
