04:07 pm: Fiddling pays off
I spent a lot of time this weekend fiddling with converting the pink flower I posted a while back into an embroidery pattern. I also did some surfing and read a bunch of embroidery tips sites. After doing a test run of the pattern, I'm rather pleased with how it turned out. I'm going to need to change the stitch type for the yellow in the center so that it doesn't put so much strain on the very middle, but other than that I think it came out just as I had hoped.

You should have seen the original attempt. Yeesh. I had to cut out quite a few colors.

It's fabulous; I love the color!

I think it's amazing that you've been able to transform your own designs, and you've only had the machine a few weeks. I know how hard it is. Mom used to torture me by making me try to get her machine to work. The only thing I was able to help her with was figuing out how to upload designs.
:(

Thank you! I attribute it to all the time I spent reading the manual. Whenever I go to FAQ sites, a lot of the questions are like, "How do I get it to...?" and all I can think is, That's in the manual, didn't you read it?

What I would like to see are more sites showing the effects you can get from various functions. Sure, the manual explains that you can use a function called "manual punching" and set it to have a random ragged edge, but knowing how to do that doesn't mean very much until someone illustrates that it can be used to draw the irregular edges of flower parts. Then I say, Oh! That's a good idea! Thanks!
