07:24 pm: Game on
I got a lot less accomplished this weekend than I had hoped, but at least it wasn't a total loss.

I woke up on Friday with a sore neck and shoulders. I managed it with painkillers while I was at work, but I didn't sleep very well that night, and by Saturday morning it had developed into a headache as well. I ventured out briefly for groceries, picked a few handfuls of blueberries and strawberries when I got home, and then spent the rest of the day lounging on the couch watching TV.

Fortunately, I felt much better Sunday morning, so I could resume my intended plan of finishing off the art for my game. Well...at least as much as possible in one day of work. I have a lot of ideas for further embellishments, but there's no way I'll get that all done before the contest deadline. I think I did a halfway decent job with the magic items, and I'm rather proud of how the palace turned out. I spent the most time today working on the dragon. (I quickly discovered that, though I love dragons like crazy, I totally suck at drawing them. That little guy took me over three hours.)

Now I just need to format the rules together with the pictures and then combine everything into one big PDF. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't run into any stumbling blocks in that process.

Oh, my! I like your dragon. (Sorry you weren't feeling well on Friday. Glad you rested Saturday instead of pushing yourself.)

Thanks! Though I suspect part of my muscle tension was stress at the approaching deadline, which is ironic considering it caused me to get less work done.

I love how your dragon turned out!

I have chronic neck/shoulder stiffness (no doubt exacerbated by my desk job, but I can tell it gets worse the more stressed I am), but I've found that a monthly massage makes a huge difference. Not being able to sleep because of a sore back is the worst.

Thank you!

A massage probably would have helped. Or what I should have done was soak in my whirlpool bath. (Why do I never think of that?)

A whirlpool bath would definitely help! My parents have a hot tub, and I know that would really help me, but somehow I'm really lazy about it (I mean, it does feel great, but having to change into my swimsuit, and then sit there for a half hour, with no reading or TV, and then shower afterword...it just seems like a big waste of time) and don't do it as often as I should.

For me, it's the regular massages that maintain my level of non-pain as much as getting them when I do have pain. If I could afford to get them every two weeks I would, but they're not exactly cheap.
