09:29 pm: Three days of this and that
I took advantage of the three day weekend to hole up in my living room as much as possible.

Still, I had practically nothing in my refrigerator after coming back from vacation, so I had to go out shopping. While I was at the nearest department store, I found exactly the kind of chest I was looking for--made to hold kerosene containers, with a lid that locks. The drawback--the store wasn't actually selling it. They were only using it to hold extra stock. I asked if they could order it, but I heard back that the maker doesn't have any left. <sigh> I guess I'll have to keep looking. In the meantime, I'll keep my kerosene in the house. >_<

On the up side, I found mint chocolate chip ice cream popsicles at the grocery store. I had only seen them in Chiba before. I bought a box just to show them there's a market for it...not that I need to eat ice cream in winter. I'll have to eat them while bundled up in blankets, since I really need the freezer space for other things. But if it means I have a choice of flavors other than green tea and red bean, then it's worth it.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream...my favorite! I hope they have it for you in the heat of summer.

I wish you good luck on the chest. I suppose someone really desperate for the kerosene could take the whole chest. Does the container seal very well? There are no fumes being given off from the container, are there? Do you want an air purification device (the ionizer/ozone generator?) They make that personal sized one you can wear like a necklace so wherever you go it'll work on the air there. They make a version for Japan's current (for the battery charger), it just needs to be specially ordered. By the time it gets there, it might be spring, but you'd have it for the next few winters. It'd work at school and home, that way. (I wish I had ordered it last year when I thought about it.)

I bought it with exactly that thought in mind.

I don't see why, though. It's only about $15 for the kerosene and can combined, and the gas station is only two blocks away. They can't be THAT desperate. I'm sure they only took it because it would be so easy to get away with it. They may even have assumed that I had moved back to America for good.

Not from the container, no, it closes pretty well. It's just that I always manage to drip some when siphoning it from the can to my stove's tank.

No, that's not necessary. I'm hoping that I'll be able to dig up a lockable chest within the next couple of weeks. I'm sure a home goods store would have one, I just haven't tried yet because the nearest one is quite a distance away.
