07:57 pm: Vacations come, vacations go...
Classes resume Thursday. I said I would show up for work Wednesday (tomorrow) in case any of my team teachers need to discuss lesson plans, which means today was my official last day of summer vacation.

I had intended to go out and run errands, but the moment I stepped outside, it started raining (about three hours earlier than forecast). So I had to scrap that plan. My backup plan was to clean my apartment, but I barely got through sorting several months' backlog of junk mail before I had enough of THAT. Instead, I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and playing around on my computer.

My cooking experiment for the day was Thai sticky rice with mango. It is seriously delicious, though I think it could do with a touch less salt.

Good luck with re-entry tomorrow :-)

Ah, so junk mail crosses cultural lines, I thought perhaps it was part of the American commitment to sell & consume but I guess not ;-) It's a constant struggle to sift and keep up with, wherever one is!

My junk mail is of a different type. It consists of A) newspapers full of ads, B) flyers for food places, C) bulletins for neighborhood/city events, and D) postcards from stores advertising sales. No credit card offers at all (they don't use credit cards here much) nor anything of the envelope variety. Even my bills are all drawn directly from my bank account (they don't use personal checks here, either), so I don't get bills, just withdrawal notices on little slips.

It's a constant struggle to sift and keep up with, wherever one is!

I would just toss it in the trash...except I have to sort it for recycling.
